Marks and Spencer launch school fashions

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Wailing Banshee has produced a new advert for Marks and Spencer to launch this years school fashions for children. Filming in our green screen studio, we captured the child models in Hi Definition to later composite them with our illustrated cartoon backgrounds. Director Helen Fields came well equipped with props such as scateboards, ‘foam wackers’, hoolahoops and giant tennis balls, not to mention high powered water-pistols! The film heads the children’s retail range for M&S and includes their new ’stormwear’ fabric - useful for British weather and water-pistols alike!

Bespak II ….. the return

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Wailing Banshee has been busy in Norfolk filming for a second time at Bespak. Well known for their leading edge metered dose inhalers and distributed in their millions, Bespak were keen to produce another entertaining and comical film. Based on two characters, Kevin and Clarke, the misfit duo embark on intense and often dangerous adventures in the world of mass machine manufacturing. The film uses a lot of special effects where pyrotechnics would have been impossible to use.   Each film sees Kevin doing the things that ‘a’ Kevin does best…… injure himself.  It’s not the first time Wailing Banshee has blown up Bespak for the sake of video art! The first film Banshee produced for Bespak won the Chicago Film Festival award for training videos. Director David Baumber shot both films and commented yesterday “It’s nice to win any awards for your work but even better when you’re recognised for producing training material that stands out in such a saturated marketplace”

Somerfield training film

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Wailing Banshee is in the final stages of post production for supermarket chain Somerfield. The 20 minute film was shot over two days in store on location in Bristol. 8 actors took part in the video which is to be distrubuted to all of their 1500 stores throughout the UK. Producer Helen Fields comments “The film was a joy to make. With projects like these sometimes everything just gels. The actors, crew and clients all mentioned what an enjoyable shoot it had been and this was certainly one of those times. We shot at a really fast pace with two cameras directed by David Baumber and assistant Vicki Smith. I think shooting in store also gave the actors inspiration for their roles”.

MSC Software

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

We have completed a 40 minute film for MSC Software’s global conference series comprising a lengthy case study on a recent contract.  Within this we incorporated 3 separate talking heads each filmed in the US and transferred to our post-production office in the UK via fast FTP which we then edited into the main UK film.  Turnaround was 10 days and we worked with offices in four different time zones which involved Banshee staff being in 24 hour contact.

Hellmann’s new vinaigrette product launch videos

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Wailing Banshee has produced a sales video to launch and promote the  new Hellmann’s vinaigrette range.  Filming on location at the Unilever demonstration kitchens  in Crawley the Banshee crew filmed in Super-HD using the new Red camera system and Sony XDcam for unrivalled image quality.  Director & DOP David Baumber explained why Banshee has opted for XDcam: “It’s an exciting time for shooting crew and those in post production.  XDcam allows us to shoot incredible HD material without worrying about post-production storage and system technology.  XDcam allows us to edit on our Avid Symphony and Adrenaline systems just as we’ve always edited standard definition.   The clients see the benefit in overall quality even if our films are for presentation on the web.  There’s a fine line now between 35mm film and HD but the budget gap is huge.  HD will be our shooting format for all corporate work in the future”.

Hellmann’s will be using the film in 2008 .  Wailing Banshee has shot more than 30 films for Unilever over the past 8 years.
